I just finished The Go-Giver and Go-Givers Sell More by Bob Burg and John David Mann. I’ve never written a book review before, but I have to share this great book with you so here it goes. While I’ve read a number of personal growth and business books, none have impacted me as much as the first of these two books, The Go-Giver.
This little story has so much to offer if you are willing to receive it. Joe, a salesman looking for clout and leverage in order to meet his quarterly sales goals, reaches out to Pindar, a business guru of sorts. Pindar agrees to work with Joe and takes him on a journey to experience the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success.
These laws include:
1. The Law of Value – Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.
2. The Law of Compensation – Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.
3. The Law of Influence – Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.
4. The Law of Authenticity – The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.
5. The Law of Receptivity – The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.
The great thing about this book aside from the obvious lessons shared is the way it’s written. For each character that Joe meets, I met them too. When Ernesto, Nicole, Sam, Debra and Pindar spoke, they spoke directly to me. I heard them loud and clear and truly felt my mindset shift as I read the book. They will speak to you too if you let them.
Go-Givers Sell More is the perfect follow up to the Go-Giver. While the first book addresses your mindset, the second provides a tactical approach to the lessons learned. The authors share examples of how others have, and how YOU CAN implement these laws into your daily life to provide more value and live the life of a Go-Giver.
I encourage you read these books and share them with people you care about. I just did.

Dear Lauren — What an incredibly sweet review. I hope you will consider writing more book reviews from time to time, because you use words beautifully. (“This little story has much to offer if you are willing to receive it” — nicely put!) (“While the first book addresses your mindset, the second provides a tactical approach to the lessons learned.” — Now THAT is a beautifully crafted sentence!)
I’m delighted you so enjoyed the books, and even more delighted that you took the time and care to articulate and share your experience here. It’s an honor to be, for a few moments, the focus of FocusNOW. 🙂
